Interactive whiteboard buying guide: meeting room vs classroom

The same 75-inch panel, two different jobs. What to prioritise in a boardroom versus a classroom or training room.

All insights →

The panel is the same, the priorities are not

A 75-inch panel works in both a boardroom and a classroom, but what you pay attention to changes completely. Get the priorities right and you avoid buying features nobody uses, or discovering in week two that the one feature you skipped is the one the room needs.

Meeting room: casting first, everything else second

Wireless casting is the daily driver. It has to work from a phone and a laptop without installing anything, or people will unplug the panel and go back to the HDMI cable. Then camera and microphone for hybrid calls — a 48MP camera and a multi-mic array so remote colleagues hear the room rather than one voice. Windows OPS turns up more often here, because sales and finance live inside PC software. Size: 65 inch for a huddle room, 75 to 86 inch for a standard room.

Classroom and training room: pen, glass, durability

Anti-glare glass and zero-gap infrared touch matter more than casting, because the teacher writes in daylight and the touch has to stay accurate with a cheap stylus and a hundred fingers. The whiteboard app must save to USB or cloud, or the lesson is lost with the power. Durability beats slimness: a panel that shrugs off a marker cap bump will outlive a thin one that looks better in the brochure. Size: 75 to 86 inch for a classroom, 98 inch for a lecture hall.

Where the two overlap

4K resolution, 178 degree viewing, the same mounting brackets and the same CE, FCC, RoHS and CCC documents. Lead time is configuration-driven for both, and the panel is the same production line.

The trap buyers fall into

Specifying a classroom panel for a boardroom gives you no camera and weak casting, and the first hybrid meeting exposes it. Specifying a boardroom panel for a classroom gives you a fragile screen with no save-to-cloud, and the first term exposes that. Tell the supplier the primary use before the model number is written down.
