What it does
The same job HDPlayer does for LED, on different hardware: build the playlist a commercial LCD screen loops, then write it to the board inside. Programs are stored on the board, so once it is written the screen runs with no PC attached and no network.
Which screens
Displays whose controller is an LCD mainboard or an LCD player box rather than an LED sending card — a good part of our indoor signage range. The board model is printed on the internal label. If you are ordering a spare board from us, ask for the version matched to the LCDPlayer build you already run, so you are not upgrading the software to fit a spare.
Before installing
Windows 7 or later. Before you overwrite anything, pull the original program off the board and keep it — that file holds the panel timing. Rebuilding panel timing by hand from a datasheet takes far longer than backing up one folder, and getting it wrong shows up as a shifted or flickering image rather than an obvious error.
Version
1.1.26.0 is the current published build. LCD boards are less forgiving of version drift than LED cards: if a board was programmed with an older build, keep that build for that board and do not "helpfully" update it during a service visit.
If the board is not recognised
Try another USB port before anything else, then the driver, then a different cable. These boards use a common USB-to-serial bridge and cheap cables fail without saying so. If the board answers but the panel stays dark, suspect the panel timing in the program before you suspect the software version.
Displays this software runs
These are the manufacturer installers, mirrored unchanged for our customers. Version notes follow the vendor release notes. Do not flash firmware on a screen that is running a live campaign without a backup of the current program.
