What a buyer is really asking
When someone asks whether a display is certified, they mean three things: will it clear customs, is it safe to install, and can I put it in a tender. The four marks below answer those questions in different ways, and none of them is a quality score.
CE: the European baseline
A declaration that the product meets EU safety, electromagnetic compatibility and health requirements. It is required to sell in the European Economic Area, and it is a legal baseline rather than a grade — two panels can both carry CE and sit at opposite ends of the price range. The declaration and test report should travel with the shipment.
FCC: the United States
The Federal Communications Commission mark covers electromagnetic interference. In plain terms: the screen will not wipe out the radio in the next room and will not buzz when a walkie-talkie keys up nearby. Required for the US market, checked at import.
RoHS: what is inside the electronics
Restriction of Hazardous Substances limits lead, mercury, cadmium and similar materials. It is an environmental and workplace standard, and retailers and public buyers increasingly ask for it by name even where the law does not require it.
CCC: mainland China
China Compulsory Certification. Mandatory for many electronics sold in mainland China, and non-negotiable if the project sits in China or the goods move through Chinese channels. A CE-only panel cannot simply be relabelled for this market.
Why this matters to your order
Customs: a container without CE or FCC documents can be held, and storage costs land on the buyer. Tenders: public projects often list certificates as a pass or fail filter, not a scoring item. Safety: certified power supplies and panels are what keep a 24/7 installation from becoming an insurance case.
How to verify a certificate
Ask for the certificate copy and the model list it covers, then check the model number against the one on your PI — a certificate for a 55-inch unit does not cover the 86-inch you ordered. A logo printed on the carton proves nothing. We keep CE, FCC, RoHS and CCC documents per commercial order and send them on request.
